Our Owner, Elmar: A German Native with an American Heart
Inspired by my father, who worked in the US for many years, I decided to do a high school exchange year in 1988. I extended my stay by working at a Virginia vineyard for two months. During that time, I already knew I would definitely return to the US, sooner rather than later.”
And so it happened: After completing my German high school diploma and industrial clerk training, I returned to the US to gain work experience at two companies — one in Boston and the other in Hanover, New Hampshire. (The reason I look so ‘bossy’ in that picture is probably because I felt proud that the team in Hanover offered me a permanent position.)
But instead of taking the Hanover job, I decided to pursue marketing studies at Arizona State University in 1996. (By the way, it felt funny to land in the desert state with a pair of skis in my luggage!) What looks like a lot of sports and fun in the pictures indeed was—but I also took on a role as a resident assistant, started my first job as an event manager for the university’s student association, and still graduated with a marketing degree, cum laude. 😊
After returning to Germany in 1999, I began my career in the event industry while continuing to play football, which I had started in 1991, until 2011 (when I became too old to be an active Frankfurt Galaxy player). Needless to say, since then, I’ve frequently traveled to the U.S. for both work and leisure

His connection to U.S. culture and deep understanding of American clients began in the 1990s, when he worked with the NFL, contributing to events like the American Bowls in Berlin and attending training camps in Tampa and St. Petersburg and has been evolving since.
With over 22 years of experience in hospitality, Corinna has honed her skills working with prestigious hotel brands like InterContinental, Arabella Sheraton, and Steigenberger. Her time in the U.S.—from earning a high school diploma in California to working at the InterContinental New Orleans—shaped her deep understanding of American customers and their expectations, that she brings into her incentive travel planner job at skors.
